GROUNDING
As upgrades to the existing electrical infrastructure took place, two-point grounding was introduced and proved sufficient for the time. In recent years, four-point bonding and grounding systems have been introduced in new homes as upgrades to further increase modern electrical systems' safety.
At KMA, we understand the importance of having the proper electrical wire grounding for your home. Without a ground, a house is left with a two-wire system, one hot wire, and one neutral wire to return power to the source. Should the neutral be lost, (which happens more often than you would think) that system would be left with only a hot wire and no return path. This is a dangerous situation that could harm anyone who came in contact with it.
The lack of grounding is often found during a home inspection, routine electrical inspection, or during a service call for another issue. KMA Electric and Heating & Cooling has found that many homes in our area lack electrical wire grounding to protect the house and its occupants from electrical dangers. Homes built before the 1970s are especially susceptible to the lack of a grounding cable or home electrical grounding rods.
Electrical Grounding Rod
When performing an electrical inspection of a home, the KMA Electric and Heating & Cooling professionals will thoroughly evaluate the residential electrical system and determine if it has the proper grounding cable and home electrical grounding rods. If the house lacks electrical wire grounding, our technicians will inform the homeowner and explain what will need to be done in order for the home to be appropriately protected against electrical problems. Electrical wire grounding is crucial for the occupants of any building. The electricians at KMA Electric and Heating & Cooling will work diligently to ensure the existing electrical system is grounded correctly. We use a four-point bonding and grounding system to provide complete protection in case of an electrical overload or other issues.
