GROUNDING
What’s the issue? Without a ground, you are left with a two wire system. This means a hot wire and a neutral wire to return the power to its source. Should you lose a neutral (which happens more often than you would think), you’ll be left with a hot wire with no return path. If you were to happen to touch it, or touch the metal appliance that it’s feeding, you could potentially complete the circuit with your body, and that might not be the best thing for you.
Lack of grounding is often caught during a homeowner inspection, during a routine electrical inspection or during a demand call where we are called out to fix something that isn’t working.
If you have a home built before the 1970’s and are unsure of the state of your grounding system, give us a call. We will gladly come perform an electrical inspection and provide you a written report of our finding. Call in or use our chat service and let us know how we can help.
